Local SEO for Orlando businesses
When somebody in Orlando searches for what you sell, three businesses appear above everything else. This is the work that decides whether you are one of them.
How local search actually decides who shows up
A local search resolves into three surfaces, and they are won differently.
The map pack — the three businesses shown with a map above the normal results — is drawn from Google Business Profile, not from your website. The local organic results underneath it come from your site. And increasingly, an AI answer sits above both, assembled from whatever the model can find and trust about your business. Most agencies work on one of the three. All three feed each other.
For the map pack, Google weighs roughly three things: relevance (does your profile match what was searched), distance (how close you are to the searcher), and prominence (how well known and well referenced your business is). You cannot move a searcher closer to your door. You can control the other two completely, and most Orlando businesses have never seriously tried.
Google Business Profile, set up properly
This is the single highest-leverage asset in local search, and it is usually half finished. The primary category is the strongest lever on that profile and is frequently wrong. Services and products are left empty. The service area is undefined, or defined so broadly it means nothing. Hours are stale — and hours matter more than people expect, because being open at the moment of the search is itself a factor. Photos stop in the year the profile was created. Posts are never used. Questions sit unanswered.
We go through all of it: categories and attributes, services, description, service area, hours including holidays, photo cadence, posts, and the Q&A. If the profile is unverified, we walk you through verification — which now generally means a short video of the location or service area rather than a postcard.
NAP consistency and citations
Your name, address and phone number should read identically everywhere on the internet. When they do not — an old suite number, a disconnected line, a previous business name — Google's confidence in the entity drops, and confidence is prominence. We audit the major directories and data aggregators, fix what conflicts, claim what is unclaimed, and kill duplicate listings, which are the quiet killer of map-pack visibility.
The local layer on your website
Your site has to corroborate the profile. That means LocalBusiness structured data with geo coordinates and a real service area, the NAP in crawlable text rather than baked into an image, an embedded map, and pages that give Google something local to rank. Service pages and city pages, each written from actual local specifics — the neighbourhoods you work in, the jobs you do there, the constraints of that area — not one template with the city name swapped out. Thin duplicated city pages are worse than no city pages, and we will cap the number rather than let you build a hundred of them.
Reviews, done without cheating
Reviews influence both ranking and whether anyone clicks you once you rank. What works is unglamorous: asking every satisfied customer, at the moment they are satisfied, with a link that takes one tap; and replying to every review, including the bad ones, in public, like an adult. What does not work is buying them or gating them, and we will not set that up for you — Google removes them and it puts your profile at risk.
Service-area businesses
If you go to customers rather than customers coming to you, you can hide your address and still rank — but the service area has to be honest and the rest of the signals have to be stronger, because proximity is working against you outside your base. That is a specific playbook and we run it regularly for trades and mobile services around Orlando.
What we measure
Not vanity rankings from your own office, where every result looks great because you are standing on top of the business. Local rank varies street by street, so we check it across a grid of points around your service area, alongside profile calls, direction requests, and the enquiries that actually reach your inbox. If those are not moving, the work is not working, and we would rather find that out early.
